Eligibility:
  • Trust funds are available to the descendents of Clarence and Lucille's siblings born before Lucille died. The trust is currently closed to further recipients.
  • A student must maintain a 2.5 or better GPA each semester. If a student fails to maintain this requirement for a given semester, financial support will be terminated until the semester following the next semester in which these requirements are maintained. (For example: If a student receives a 2.3 GPA in the fall semester, they would not be eligible for support in the spring. If they earn a 2.5 GPA or better in the spring semester, they will again be eligible for support the following fall.)
  • If a student drops more than two classes in a semester, they will lose financial support for the following semester. If any classes are dropped within the time frame that refunds are allowed by the university, the amount of the refund must be returned to the Hillard Trust immediately. Failure to do so will permanently disqualify the student from receiving further assistance.
Guidelines:
  • The amount of distributions of scholarship funds are subject to change at the discretion of the trustees. Return on the trust investments and the number of eligible recipients requesting funds will affect the amount available. Recipients must expect periodic fluctuations.
  • It is intended that classes be taken from certified institutions of higher learning, whether public or private, including vocational and traditional colleges and universities. There are educational opportunities available which will not be funded by the Hillard Trust. Educational institutions will be evaluated on an individual basis and are subject to approval by the trustees.
  • The funds will be distributed directly to each student to use at their discretion.
  • Part time students will receive assistance for tuition, fees and required textbooks up to the maximum allowed per semester. No assistance will be available for room and board, computers, or school supplies for part time students.
